There’s a story to be told: the story of transformation, restoration, and love. The journey of painting “old things” began as a hobby. As time marched on, it became a story about my journey seeking healing and wholeness.
As I looked at an old door, bureau, rocking chair, windows or a cedar chest… I remember these words...” all things are made new in Christ”…. What was once a piece of chipped, worn; broken piece of furniture is now restored to its former purpose. This transformation process is similar to the many stages of human life we pass through along our journey. At times, these “old, broken, chipped pieces” were “throwaways”. Until one day, I was given the vision to see what it could be. As I painted a very old crackled peeling paint off a rocker, those flaking chips of paint were not cracks in the wood, but rather the process of an aging rocker.
Each piece is custom painted with chalk paint, waxed and buffed into its “authentic beauty”. No one piece is “perfect: but rather character imperfections graced each piece. It makes the blueprint authentic and reminds me, we are not perfect, but made whole in love.
Enjoy your special piece of furniture. Listen with your heart, for each door, window, chair etc. has a story unique and inspiring to tell. These treasures of old have become a blessing to me and I pray will be a blessing to you.
